Creating Tasks

Sometimes it’s just easier to email a task in, rather than going through the browser interface - for example, adding tasks from a mobile phone or while you’re on the go.

Another way you can use this feature is hiTask’s integration with your website, or another system that sends you automated emails.

How to send
Simply send an email to [your user name]@hitask.com, where [your user name] is the username that you use to log into hiTask. For example, if you use joe as your username then you should send the task to joe@hiTask.com.

The subject of the email message is the title of the task, and the message text is the task description.

IMPORTANT: The email message must be sent from the email address associated with your account or one of your team members’ accounts. This is required, otherwise anyone would be able to send email to your @hitask.com address and spam you with random tasks. This won’t happen because you’re actually in control of who can send tasks.

If you want to be able to send yourself tasks from more accounts simply add those addresses as contacts.

##Assigning Tasks

To assign a task to a specific team member (not to yourself), simply click their name in the list (the right side of your hiTask Dashboard), then copy the email address listed under their name.

Now send an email to [team member email address], where [team member email address] is the email address you find listed under the team member’s name.

The subject of the email message is the title of the task, and the message text is the task description.

##Adding Task Details

You may also email tasks with projects, dates and tags. Simply specify your project name and/or tags and/or date at the end of your email subject.

Examples:

*     Update user guide @Documentation
*     Update user guide #tag1 #tag2
* Update user guide at 2015-07-23
*     Update user guide at 12-10-13 11:23 #tag @Documentation
